Window switcher (playing more than one character)
guide · Server guide
The Vanadreams Launcher has a built-in window switcher for players who run two or more characters at once. It brings the next, the previous or a chosen character's game window to the front with one key or a controller press, and it can put every window back where you like it.
Turning it on
- Open the Vanadreams Launcher and go to Addons. Window switcher is in the list, marked "launcher".
- Tick it and press Save (or tick On on its own page). Select it and press Switcher settings to open its page with the keys, slots and layouts.
- Start each character with Play as usual (pick a profile, Play, then the next profile, Play). Each game window shows up in the slot list as it opens, and its character name appears once that character is in game.
Keys
- Pause brings the next character forward, Scroll Lock the one before. Click either button on the page and press a different key (Ctrl, Alt and Shift combinations work) to change it; Esc clears it.
- Each of slots 1-6 can have its own key that jumps straight to that character. Click Key: none on the slot's row and press the key.
- The keys only work while one of your game windows is in front, and the key never reaches the game, so it won't type in chat or fire a macro. Tick Keys work from any window if you want them to work from your browser or Discord too.
- Use the ▲ ▼ buttons to change the slot order. The launcher remembers the order by character name. Show brings that window forward.
Controller
Pick a button combination for Pad next and Pad previous (for example Back + RB). The game also sees the controller, so pick a combination your in-game pad layout leaves free.
Layouts
- Arrange your game windows the way you want them.
- Type a name (for example "Full party") and press Save windows as this layout.
- Any time the windows get moved around, pick the layout and press Restore.
- Tick Put each character in its place in the layout as it logs in and every character goes to its saved spot by itself.
Good to know
- With the switcher on and a game open, closing the launcher puts it in the system tray (the moon icon) so your keys keep working. Right-click the moon and choose Quit to stop it. It also quits by itself once every game window has closed.
- A game started as administrator can't be brought forward by the launcher; its row says "administrator". Start it with the launcher's Play and leave Run as administrator unticked on the profile.
