Skirmish

guide · Server guide

Skirmish is Seekers of Adoulin end-game content for 1 to 6 players of level 95 or higher. You build a key item called a simulacrum from three segments, take it to the Augural Conveyor in Rala Waterways, Cirdas Caverns or Yorcia Weald, and fight through a private copy of the [U] zone beyond. There is no level sync, and trusts are welcome. Expect it to be tough at item level 119.

Building a simulacrum

Oston sits at the Goddess's Tears café in Eastern Adoulin (G-8), with his wife Lola beside him.

- Trade Oston one Visage, one Faithful's Torso and one pair of Faithful's Legs. He gives you the area's simulacrum (Rala, Cirdas or Yorcia Simulacrum). The Visage decides which area it is for.
- He charges 100 gil per rank, counting all three segments: Visage III + Torso II + Legs I costs 600 gil.
- You can carry one simulacrum per area at a time.
- Talk to Oston to hear what else he can do. He makes one offer each time you talk. Talk again straight away to accept it. Wait a few seconds before talking again to hear his next offer instead.
- Take a simulacrum apart: you get all three segments back, free of charge. You need three free inventory slots.
- Buy rank I segments for Obsidian Fragments: Rala Visage I or Cirdas Visage I for 2,600, Yorcia Visage I for 3,900, Faithful's Torso I for 2,400, Faithful's Legs I for 2,000.
- Higher-rank segments come from other content, for example Mog Kupons at the Dealer Moogle.

What each segment does

Segment | Effect |
Visage | Which area the simulacrum is for, and the grade of the stones in your coffers. Ranks III-IV can give +1 stones; rank V can give +1 and +2 stones. |
Torso | The time limit, how much each objective asks of you, how many maps are open (Rala and Cirdas), and how many rewards you get. |
Legs | How many Noetic Ascensions you find inside (rank + 2), and which blessings they offer. |

Talk to Lola to hear how Skirmish works. She gives you one tip each time you talk.

Entering

- The leader examines the Augural Conveyor while carrying the simulacrum, then examines it again straight away to set out.
- Rala Waterways (B-6), by the zone line to Western Adoulin.
- Cirdas Caverns (H-3).
- Yorcia Weald (I-10).
- In Rala Waterways the same conveyor also leads to the mission battle "The Charlatan". If you can enter both, each examination names one destination. Examine it again straight away to go there. Wait a few seconds and examine it again to hear the other.
- Only the leader needs a simulacrum, and it is used up on entry. Every party member in the zone who is level 95 or higher comes along.

How a run works

- Objective 1 must be met. When it is, everyone receives a Fenestral Key (a temporary item).
- Objective 2 is optional. Meeting it adds one item to every personal coffer and one more piece to the treasure pool.
- A chat message reports your progress on Objective 1 every 20%.
- Using the Fenestral Key ends the fight:
- every monster leaves;
- anyone knocked out is offered a raise;
- you have 6 minutes left;
- a Treasure Coffer with your name on it appears for each player.
- The first coffer opened puts the weapons or armour in the party's treasure pool.
- If time runs out before anyone uses the key, you are sent back with nothing, even if you met both objectives. Use the key before time runs out.
- Noetic Ascensions are scattered about. Each one can be used once. It offers one blessing at a time: examine it again straight away to take the blessing, or wait a few seconds and examine it again to hear the next. Each blessing works once per run, lasts until the run ends, and applies to the whole party.

Legs | Blessings that open up |
I | Attack up, Defense up |
II | Magic Attack up, Magic Defense up |
III | Full TP, HP and MP fully restored |
IV | Max HP +500, Max MP up |
V | Movement speed up |

- Every monster gives each player 1-5 Obsidian Fragments. Notorious monsters in Rala and Bestial Dens in Yorcia give 10-50.

Rala Waterways [U]: defeat the notorious monsters

Torso | Time | Maps | Objective 1 | Objective 2 | Personal items | Pool weapons |
I | 30 min | 3 | 6 NMs | 8 NMs | 3 | 2 |
II | 40 min | 4 | 7 | 10 | 4 | 3 |
III | 50 min | 4 | 8 | 11 | 5 | 4 |
IV | 60 min | 4 | 9 | 13 | 6 | 5 |
V | 60 min | 5 | 10 | 15 | 7 | 6 |

- Notorious monsters are spread over the waterways around the Water Garden Coliseum. They include leeches, efts, spiders, slugs, skeletons, toads, bats, slimes, pugils, diremites and crabs: Aquifer Leech, Deft Eft, Coreborn Spider, Anklebiter Slug, Ergoprowler, Bonesoaked Bandit, Warmonger and Sorcerer, Bufobrawler, Batroika, Combustible Gel, Citrine Slime, Slashmaw Pugil, Diremite Assailant and Watermarked Crab.
- Only the first map is open at the start. Each further map opens after two more NMs fall.
- From Torso III, the third map also needs six of the ordinary monsters defeated.
- From Torso IV, the fourth map also needs three Noetic Ascension blessings taken. With Legs I there are only two blessings, so two are enough.
- Ordinary monsters (toads, leeches, efts and spiders; bats from Torso II, a twitherym from III, slimes from IV, crabs from V) come back a minute after they fall.
- Clearing Torso V gives the title Waterway Exemplar.

Cirdas Caverns [U]: defeat a number of monsters

Torso | Time | Maps | Objective 1 | Objective 2 | Personal items | Pool weapons |
I | 30 min | 3 | 50 monsters | 55 | 3 | 2 |
II | 40 min | 3 | 60 | 66 | 4 | 3 |
III | 50 min | 3 | 70 | 77 | 5 | 4 |
IV | 60 min | 4 | 80 | 88 | 6 | 5 |
V | 60 min | 4 | 90 | 100 | 7 | 6 |

- Monsters keep coming: each one returns a few seconds after it falls, and some kills bring out an extra one.
- Every monster here has true sight. Sneak and Invisible will not get you past them.
- Families: bats, acuex, funguar, obdella, umbril, worms, clots, mandragora, spiders, lizards, toads and a marolith.
- Clearing Torso V gives the title Cavern Exemplar.

Yorcia Weald [U]: defend the Cantonment

Torso | Time | Objective 1: hold for | Objective 2: hold for | Personal items | Pool armour |
I | 30 min | 15 min | 25 min | 3 | 2 |
II | 30 min | 15 min | 25 min | 4 | 3 |
III | 40 min | 25 min | 35 min | 5 | 4 |
IV | 40 min | 25 min | 35 min | 6 | 5 |
V | 50 min | 35 min | 45 min | 7 | 6 |

- You start beside the Cantonment, a camp the monsters want to tear down. It cannot be healed. You get a warning each time it is hit. If it falls, the run is lost.
- Monsters come in waves and walk straight for the Cantonment. They ignore you unless you attack them.
- Bestial Dens are flowers around the edge of the area. Each den feeds two or three monster families. Destroying a den stops those families from coming. Dens do not fight back.
- Two extra blessings are offered at the Noetic Ascensions here:
- Stockades: barricades around the Cantonment that the monsters attack first. You get Torso rank + Legs rank - 1 of them, up to four.
- Halve the time: the Cantonment only has to hold half as long. This is offered only in the first three minutes.
- Once Objective 2 is met, a horde of monsters charges in. Use the key.
- A Dithering Heartwing sometimes appears. Defeat it before Objective 1 is met and one more piece of armour goes into the treasure pool. It always drops a Lebondopt Wing.
- Clearing Torso V gives the title Weald Exemplar.
