How notorious monsters spawn on Vanadreams

Notorious monsters (NMs) on Vanadreams come quickly. There are no long respawn windows to camp.

Placeholder (lottery) NMs

Most field NMs share a spot with an ordinary monster, its placeholder. On Vanadreams the placeholder always gives way: kill it and the NM appears right away in its place. Once the NM is defeated, the placeholder comes back and you can do it again.

The Reisenjima "Ascended" monsters are the one exception: each kill of their trigger monster has a 1 in 10 chance (see the Escha page).

Timed NMs and HNMs

NMs that normally spawn on a timer (hours or days, including the big HNMs) come back within 30 seconds of being defeated. Two exceptions: Iratham and Myrmecoleon in Abyssea - Tahrongi come back 15 to 20 minutes after a defeat. After a server restart they all appear within 30 seconds too.

Beastmen kings and their placeholders

- Za'Dha Adamantking (Qulun Dome): defeat Diamond Quadav and the king appears shortly after.
- Tzee Xicu the Manifest (Castle Oztroja): defeat Yagudo Avatar and the king appears shortly after.
- Overlord Bakgodek (Monastic Cavern): defeat Orcish Overlord and the king appears shortly after.
- Biast (Xarcabard): defeat Shadow Dragon and Biast appears where it fell.
- Steam Cleaner (Ve'Lugannon Palace): the Detector's Caretaker call brings Steam Cleaner instead.

Pop-item NMs

The ??? you trade a pop item to is back about 30 seconds after the NM is defeated, so you can pop it again straight away.

Still conditional

Some NMs only appear at certain times of day or in certain weather. Those conditions still apply; nothing else makes you wait.
