Unlocking Master Levels

Master Levels raise a mastered job past level 99, up to Master Level 50. Each Master Level gives +1 to every stat, +1 to skill caps, +7 HP and +2 MP. Pets get stronger too: automatons, avatars and wyverns gain accuracy, attack, defense and evasion with each Master Level. (Your support job is already at your main job's level on Vanadreams, see Jobs, Subjobs and Level Limits.)

What you need

- Your main job at level 99, with the Job Breaker key item. The Nomad Moogle or Maat in Ru'Lude Gardens gives you Job Breaker the first time you talk to them at 99.
- That job mastered, which means all 2,100 Job Points spent (Job Points are spent from the menu in your Mog House).

How to unlock

- On the mastered job, at level 99, talk to the Nomad Moogle or Maat in Ru'Lude Gardens. You get the Master Breaker key item.
- From the 18 Oct update, if the job isn't mastered yet they tell you how many of the 2,100 Job Points you've spent.
- From the 18 Oct update, logging in on a mastered level 99 job also hands over Master Breaker.
- Master Breaker covers every job, but Master Levels only work on jobs you've mastered.

Earning Exemplar Points

- Once unlocked, kills on a mastered job give Exemplar Points (EP) instead of EXP. EP fills your Master Level.
- EP come from monsters around your own effective level (119 + Master Level / 5) and higher. Sheol, Apex, Locus and High Apex monsters give much more.
- Master chains add +2% EP per chain, up to +100% at chain 50.
- Corsair's Roll is the only bonus that boosts EP. Lungo-Nango's Thesis gives 4,000 to 6,000 EP.
- Being KO'd costs 2% of the EP for your next Master Level and can drop you a level. Raise gives some of it back.
- No EP in Ambuscade. Level sync below 99 turns Master Levels off.

Mastery and your support job

From the 18 Oct update:

- Master Levels' +1 skill per level also counts for skills only your support job has, such as Ninjutsu on WAR/NIN.
- If your support job is also mastered (all 2,100 Job Points spent on it) and at 99, you get that job's Job Point gifts as well. Its Superior rank and Capacity Point Bonus don't stack; those come from your main job only.
