Jobs, Subjobs and Level Limits
guide ยท Server guide
On Vanadreams every job and the support job are open from the moment you make your character. You don't need to run an unlock quest first, but every job's unlock quest is still there to play for the story and its rewards (Summoner's Carbuncle, for one). See Job Unlock Quests.
Jobs
- All 22 jobs are unlocked at character creation, including Paladin through Scholar, Geomancer and Runefencer. Change job at the moogle in your Mog House or at any Nomad Moogle.
- Every job starts at level 1.
Support jobs (subjobs)
- The support job is unlocked at creation. You don't need to do the subjob quest.
- Set it at the moogle in your Mog House, the same way you change your main job.
- Your support job can reach the same level as your main job (99/99), not half as in the original game. It still can't be higher than the level you've actually reached on that job, so a level 30 Ninja is a /NIN30 even under a level 99 main job.
- You get the support job's full MP, not half.
Level limits
- New characters start with a level limit of 70.
- There is one limit break, the level 70 one, and winning it takes your limit straight to 99. Warrior through Summoner fight Maat in Shattering Stars (Ru'Lude Gardens, from level 66). Blue Mage, Corsair, Puppetmaster, Dancer, Scholar, Geomancer and Rune Fencer do their own level 70 limit break fight. Any one of these opens 99 for all your jobs. See Limit breaks on Vanadreams.
- The older limit break quests (In Defiant Challenge through Beyond Infinity) are switched off.
- If any of your jobs is already above 80, your limit is raised to 99 when you log in.
Key items for merits, Job Points and Master Levels
Talk to Maat or the Nomad Moogle in Ru'Lude Gardens:
- Limit Breaker (merit points) from level 75. It's also given when you win the limit break.
- Job Breaker (Job Points) at level 99.
- Master Breaker (Master Levels) on a level 99 job with all 2,100 Job Points spent. See Master Levels.
