Sky: the four gods and Kirin

guide ยท Server guide

Where: Ru'Aun Gardens, Ve'Lugannon Palace and The Shrine of Ru'Avitau, up the Shimmering Circle in Hall of the Gods.

How: kill eight lesser notorious monsters for a gem and a stone each, trade each pair to its god's ??? in Ru'Aun Gardens, then trade the four gods' seals to the ??? in the Shrine to call Kirin.

Getting in

- Story: Rise of the Zilart up to The Gate of the Gods. The Shimmering Circle in Hall of the Gods only lifts you once you are on that mission or past it. Your first arrival in Ru'Aun Gardens completes it.
- Ve'Lugannon Palace and the Shrine open off Ru'Aun Gardens through ordinary doors. No key item is needed.
- Party: no limit. Bring a party or a full alliance.
- Time and lockouts: none. These are open areas.
- Trusts: allowed in all three areas, up to the usual six per party. In an alliance each party leader calls trusts for their own party.
- Respawns: every notorious monster here comes back about 30 seconds after it falls, and every placeholder pops its NM. A god's ??? is ready again a moment after the god despawns.

Getting around Ru'Aun Gardens:

- Touch a Pincerstone to open its blue portal for two minutes.
- The yellow portal to a god's island closes while that god is up and opens again when it is gone.
- Holders of the Warrior of the Crystal title can take the shortcut through the green portals.
- Ru'Aun Gardens has five home points and the Shrine has one.

The route

Step | Where | Kill | For |
1 | Ru'Aun Gardens, around H-9 and H-10 | Groundskeepers until Despot pops | Gem of the West |
2 | Ve'Lugannon Palace, Map 1 | Steam Cleaner, Zipacna, Brigandish Blade | Gem of the East, Gem of the North, Gem of the South |
3 | The Shrine of Ru'Avitau, Maps 4 and 5 | Mother Globe, Faust, Olla Grande, Ullikummi | 4 items: - Springstone
- Summerstone
- Winterstone
- Autumnstone

|
4 | Ru'Aun Gardens, the four god islands | Genbu, Seiryu, Byakko, Suzaku | each god's seal |
5 | The Shrine of Ru'Avitau, Map 6 | Kirin | the top prizes |

Every lesser NM drops its gem or stone every time, with a chance at a second one. Every god drops its seal every time, with a chance at a second. One clean loop of eight NMs and four gods gives one Kirin.

Pops

The gods

Trade exactly the gem and the stone to the god's ??? on its island. Both are used up and the god appears on the spot.

God | Gem | Stone | ??? |
Genbu | Gem of the North | Winterstone | J-5 |
Seiryu | Gem of the East | Springstone | L-8 |
Byakko | Gem of the West | Autumnstone | E-5 |
Suzaku | Gem of the South | Summerstone | E-9 |

Kirin

Trade the
4 items: - Seal of Genbu
- Seal of Seiryu
- Seal of Byakko
- Seal of Suzaku

to the ??? in the Shrine, Map 6 F-9. The seals are used up and Kirin appears claimed to you.

The gems

- Gem of the West: Despot. Kill the Groundskeepers in the central garden (H-9, H-10, J-8 and nearby). Despot pops where one falls and is claimed to its killer.
- Gem of the East: Steam Cleaner. Fight one of the Detectors in Ve'Lugannon Palace. Once fighting, a Detector calls a helper every 10 seconds. If Steam Cleaner is not already up, the helper is Steam Cleaner.
- Gem of the North: Zipacna. It patrols the north corridor of Map 1 (around F-4) and turns back at closed doors. It is up when you arrive and returns about 30 seconds after each kill.
- Gem of the South: Brigandish Blade. Trade a Curtana to the ??? at Map 1 H-12. The Curtana is used up.

The stones

- Springstone: Mother Globe. It roams its room on Map 5 (around J-9) trailing up to six Slave Globes.
- Summerstone: Faust. It stands on its ledge on Map 4 (G-11), turning between north and east.
- Winterstone: Olla Grande. Trade one Ro'Maeve Water to the ??? at Map 4 I-6. Olla Pequena appears, then Olla Media where it falls, then Olla Grande where Media falls. Only Olla Grande drops the stone. If you trade while under Sneak, Pequena pops unclaimed.
- Autumnstone: Ullikummi. Trade a Diorite to the ??? at Map 5 G-9.

Farming the pop items

Item | Where it comes from |
Curtana | Free from a ??? in one of the four corner rooms of Ve'Lugannon Palace, if you don't already hold one. The ??? then moves to another of its 16 spots and stays hidden for two to three hours. |
Ro'Maeve Water | A rare drop from Aura Pots in the Shrine (Maps 3 and 4). |
Diorite | A very rare drop from Aura Statues in the Shrine (Maps 1, 5 and 6). |

Faster: the Login Moogle sells every gem, stone and seal, plus Ro'Maeve Water and Diorite, for 500 points each on its Pop items page. The Clan Provisioner sells all of them and Curtana for 1,000 clan points each.

Strategy

Lesser NMs

- Despot: only uses Panzerfaust, in chains of two to five, and runs fast. It cannot be slowed or slept. Tank it where it pops.
- Steam Cleaner: its hits drain 500 to 1,000 TP, so keep weapon skillers off the front and burn it with magic. Hand-to-hand hits it 25% harder.
- Brigandish Blade: stops at 1% HP and cannot be hurt until someone hits it with a Buccaneer's Knife and the knife's added effect lands. Bring a Thief: the knife comes from stealing from Brigandish Blade itself. Its attack rises as its HP falls and its hits can Terrorize.
- Zipacna: uses Crystal Rain and an elemental Crystal Weapon often and builds TP fast. Fight it away from the doors so it doesn't wander.
- Mother Globe: permanent Shock Spikes and a lightning added effect. Kill the Slave Globes (600 HP each) first or sleep them; they vanish when Mother Globe dies.
- Faust: spams Typhoon, twice in a row and three times below half HP, and builds TP much faster below half HP. Spread out and heal through it.
- The Ollas: Pequena nukes, Media drains and dispels, Grande heals itself and casts Holy. All three can dispel you on hit. Kill them back to back.
- Ullikummi: uses Heavy Strike almost nonstop. Shadows and a solid tank are the whole fight.

The gods

All four can't be slept, have an elemental added effect on their melee, and give up after five minutes with nobody fighting them. Each god drops a throwing item that turns off another god's added effect when its added effect lands:

God | Throw this at it | Which drops from |
Genbu | Antarctic Wind | Suzaku |
Seiryu | Zephyr | Byakko |
Byakko | East Wind | Seiryu |
Suzaku | Arctic Wind | Genbu |

- Genbu (19,000 HP): its attack climbs as its HP falls and it counters. Below half HP it builds TP faster. Bring your damage early.
- Seiryu (22,000 HP): builds TP very fast and uses Hundred Fists at 50 to 60% HP. During Hundred Fists it neither casts nor uses moves, so put up shadows and cures and ride it out.
- Byakko (22,000 HP): triple attacks often, with high attack and defence. Use a sturdy tank with shadows.
- Suzaku (25,000 HP): resists fire and ice strongly. Nuke it with water.

Kirin

Kirin has 60,000 HP, regenerates, builds TP very fast and resists Stun. It casts Stonega IV, Stone V, Quake, Rasp and Sleepga.

- Moves: it uses each move twice in a row, three times below half HP: Heat Breath, Deadly Hold, Great Sandstorm or Great Whirlwind, and Tail Swing or Tail Smash.
- The gods: every three to five minutes it calls one of the four gods (about 10,000 HP each, weaker than the island versions) until all four have come. The gods link with Kirin and vanish when Kirin dies.
- Astral Flow: once, somewhere between 85% and 10% HP, it calls an avatar at random: Carbuncle, Ifrit, Titan, Leviathan, Garuda, Shiva or Ramuh.
- Setup: two tanks (one for Kirin, one for the gods), plenty of healing, a healer kept free to wake anyone caught by Sleepga, and a second group to kill each god as it comes. Kill the gods as they arrive, or burn Kirin down before the third or fourth god joins.
- Kirin gives up and takes its gods with it after three minutes with nobody fighting it.

Rewards

- Kirin: Kirin's Osode, Kirin's Pole, the body abjurations (Dryadic, Neptunal) and the Wyrmal legs abjuration, plus high-end ingots and cloth.
- The gods: Genbu's 5 items: - Kabuto
- Shield
- Seiryu's Kote
- Byakko's Haidate
- Suzaku's Sune-Ate
