Dynamis - San d'Oria run guide

guide ยท Server guide

How a run through Dynamis - San d'Oria goes on Vanadreams: the route, where the pop items come from, how to beat each boss, and what to take home.

Getting in

- Examine the Trail Markings in Southern San d'Oria. You need a level 65 main job and the Prismatic Hourglass key item.
- The Hourglass is a one-time unlock. At level 65+ and nation rank 6+, zone into Xarcabard for a cutscene. Examine the Trail Markings for the Vial of Shrouded Sand. Then trade 50,000 gil to Haggleblix (Beadeaux), Antiqix (Castle Oztroja) or Lootblox (Davoi) for the Hourglass. Nothing is used up after that.
- San d'Oria has no extra requirement. It is one of the four city areas you clear to open Dynamis - Beaucedine.
- You enter with your support job. Trusts are allowed.
- You start with 60 minutes. There is no wait between runs.
- Each player enters on their own. Gather at the start before you pull anything.
- The Somnial Threshold next to the start (150, -2, 152) lets you leave early.

The run

Positions in brackets are what the !where command shows.

You arrive in the north-east corner of the city (162, -2, 162). The city splits in two:

- East half and centre: Vanguard orcs at level 75-77.
- West half and the southern strip: Vanguard orcs at level 90-92. These are the ones that drop the pop items.

Every Vanguard has 4,000 HP and respawns after 5 minutes. They all link, and they all hit for 1.5x damage.

Time extensions

Five Warchief Tombstones add time. Kill one and everyone in the killer's party or alliance who is in the zone and doesn't have that colour of granule yet gets the key item and the minutes. Each comes back 85 seconds after it dies, so late arrivals can still get theirs.

Granule | Warchief Tombstone | Level | Where | Minutes |
Crimson | east side, south of the start, down the slope | 65 | (157, -7, 41) | 10 |
Azure | south of the centre plaza | 65 | (1, -4, -34) | 10 |
Amber | west of centre, in the low ground | 65 | around (-88, -7, -12) | 10 |
Obsidian | north-west, in the low ground | 80 | (-157, -9, 70) | 15 |
Alabaster | west, in the low ground | 80 | (-191, -9, 26) | 15 |

All five give 50 minutes, for 110 in total.

Route

- East side. Clear south from the start. Kill the Crimson Tombstone (157, -7, 41).
- East centre. Reapertongue Gadgquok (around (109, 0, 78)) and Wyrmgnasher Bjakdek (91, -7, -11) are on this side. Both can drop the Barbaric Bijou.
- Centre south. Kill the Azure Tombstone (1, -4, -34). Voidstreaker Butchnotch spawns just north of it, around (-2, 1, -22). It is the third Bijou carrier.
- West. Kill the Amber Tombstone around (-88, -7, -12). From here on the Vanguards are level 90-92. Farm them for the odious pop items as you go.
- North-west. Kill Obsidian (-157, -9, 70) and Alabaster (-191, -9, 26).
- Pop NMs. With odious items in hand, call the four NMs at their ??? (see Pops). Each one drops a Fiendish Tome chapter every time.
- Boss. Go to the ??? in the middle of the city at (0, -2, 43). Trade the Barbaric Bijou for Overlord's Tombstone. Killing it wins the area.
- Arch boss. Trade all five Fiendish Tome chapters at the same ??? for Arch Overlord Tombstone.

Refill statues

Six Serjeant Tombstones stand around the city. One from each group is up at a time, with a random eye colour. When one dies, everyone within 30 yalms gets full MP (blue eye) or full HP (green eye). Red does nothing. A new one appears 5 minutes later.

Group | Where | Colours it can roll |
1 | east, near the start: (109, -1, 80), (105, 2, 68) | red, blue, green |
2 | north-west: (-160, -3, 62) | red, blue, green |
3 | south-east: (97, 1, -30) | red, green |
4 | south-east: (86, 1, -58) | red, blue |
5 | south-west: (-93, 1, -50), (-84, 2, -38) | red, green |
6 | south-west: (-107, 1, -26), (-107, 1, -33) | red, blue |

Group 1 is level 65; the rest are level 80.

Pops

All the pop items are Rare and Ex: one of each per person. Spread them across the party. They can be sent to your own other characters.

Every pop item is also on the Clan Provisioner's pop shelf for 1,000 clan points (see Clan Centurio).

Barbaric Bijou

- Spawns: Overlord's Tombstone. Trade it to the ??? at (0, -2, 43).
- Drops from (about 1 kill in 4): Reapertongue Gadgquok, Voidstreaker Butchnotch and Wyrmgnasher Bjakdek.
- Fastest: kill all three on the way through the east and centre; each kill is about a 1 in 4 chance. They respawn every 15 minutes, so you can loop back for another round in the same run.

The four odious items

Each one calls a level 95 NM at its own ???. All drop at 5% from the level 90-92 Vanguards in the west and south.

Item | Drops from (level 90-92 only) | ??? | Calls |
Odious Scale | no monster in this area | south-east (103, 1, -47) | Bladeburner Rokgevok |
Square of Odious Leather | Vanguard Bugler, Grappler, Gutslasher, Trooper | far south (18, 2, -94) | Steelshank Kratzvatz |
Odious Cryptex | Vanguard Backstabber, Dollmaster, Neckchopper | south-west (-103, 1, -47) | Bloodfist Voshgrosh |
Odious Strongbox | Vanguard Hawker, Impaler, Mesmerizer | far north-west (-274, -6, 98) | Spellspear Djokvukk |

- Odious Scale comes from the Clan Provisioner.
- Fastest for the rest: the level 90-92 camps in the south-west, (-87, 1, -46) and (-103, 1, -29), hold Buglers, Mesmerizers and Dollmasters close together. The north-west camps around (-261, -4, 115) and (-263, -4, 84) hold every Vanguard type that carries a pop item, in a small space next to the Spellspear ???.
- Bring Treasure Hunter. A 5% drop is the slow part of the run.

Fiendish Tome chapters

The Arch Overlord Tombstone takes all five chapters in one trade.

Chapter | Drops (every kill) from |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 1 | Overlord's Tombstone |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 2 | Bladeburner Rokgevok |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 3 | Steelshank Kratzvatz |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 4 | Bloodfist Voshgrosh |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 5 | Spellspear Djokvukk |

- One player can't hold two of the same chapter, so one person collects a full set while the others pass.
- Fastest: pop the four NMs and the Overlord in the same run, then trade straight away. The chapters are also on the Clan Provisioner's shelf.

Strategy

Everything here except the Tombstones is an orc. The Vanguards and every orc NM give procs once you hold 3 or more granules. The Tombstones and the two bosses never proc.

Fanatic Dance. Every orc NM in the area can use it. It charms everyone within 10 yalms for up to 3 minutes. Keep the melee you can spare out of range, and have a sleeper ready for charmed players.

Warchief Tombstones (time extensions)

- Red mage statues with 1,000 HP. They cure themselves and cast enfeebles and Sleep.
- Take half damage from weapons. Magic does full damage.
- Immune to Silence, Slow, Elegy and Sleep.
- TP moves: Seismostomp (area damage and Stun, 15 yalms) and Numbing Glare (gaze, Paralysis).
- A couple of nukers finish them fast. Turn away from Numbing Glare.

Reapertongue Gadgquok, Voidstreaker Butchnotch, Wyrmgnasher Bjakdek (Bijou NMs)

- 8,000 HP each, level 83-84.
- Reapertongue is a summoner with a Carbuncle. Voidstreaker is a ninja (Utsusemi). Wyrmgnasher is a dragoon with a wyvern.
- Each uses its job's two-hour ability once below about half HP. A red proc (5 granules) takes it away.
- Kill pets first.

Bladeburner Rokgevok

- Level 95 black mage / warrior. Casts black magic and uses Manafont at low HP.
- Fight it away from the healers. Stun or interrupt big nukes.
- Drops Chapter 2 and the Oneiros Sash (common).

Steelshank Kratzvatz

- Level 95 paladin / beastmaster. Its pet, Kratzvatz's Hecteyes, is a black mage that nukes and uses Hex Eye (gaze, Paralysis) and Death Ray.
- Kill the Hecteyes first. Then the paladin, who uses Invincible at low HP: stop melee and wait it out, or nuke through it.
- Drops Chapter 3 and the Oneiros Cappa (common).

Bloodfist Voshgrosh

- Level 95 dark knight / monk. Hits hard and uses Blood Weapon at low HP.
- Keep Utsusemi or Phalanx on the tank. Back off for Blood Weapon.
- Drops Chapter 4 [cut off]
