Dynamis - Bastok run guide

guide ยท Server guide

How a run through Dynamis - Bastok goes on Vanadreams: the route, where the pop items come from, how to beat each boss, and what to take home.

Getting in

- Examine the Trail Markings in Bastok Mines. You need a level 65 main job and the Prismatic Hourglass key item.
- The Hourglass is a one-time unlock. At level 65+ and nation rank 6+, zone into Xarcabard for a cutscene. Examine the Trail Markings for the Vial of Shrouded Sand. Then trade 50,000 gil to Haggleblix (Beadeaux), Antiqix (Castle Oztroja) or Lootblox (Davoi) for the Hourglass. Nothing is used up after that.
- Bastok has no extra requirement. It is one of the four city areas you clear to open Dynamis - Beaucedine.
- You enter with your support job. Trusts are allowed.
- You start with 60 minutes. There is no wait between runs.
- Each player enters on their own. Gather at the start before you pull anything.
- The Somnial Threshold just north of the start (118, 1, -56) lets you leave early.

The run

Positions in brackets are what the !where command shows.

You arrive on the east side of the city, south of centre (116, 1, -72). The city has two levels of difficulty:

- South, east and centre, on the ground floor: Vanguard quadav at level 75-77.
- The west, and the upper terrace that runs along the north and east (height 6 and up): Vanguard quadav at level 90-92. These are the ones that drop the pop items.

Every Vanguard has 4,000 HP and respawns after 5 minutes. They all link, and they all hit for 1.5x damage.

Time extensions

Five Adamantking Images add time. Kill one and everyone in the killer's party or alliance who is in the zone and doesn't have that colour of granule yet gets the key item and the minutes. Each comes back 85 seconds after it dies, so late arrivals can still get theirs.

Granule | Adamantking Image | Level | Where | Minutes |
Amber | east of centre, north-west of the start | 65 | (60, 0, -15) | 10 |
Crimson | south of centre | 65 | (7, -4, -53) | 10 |
Azure | north of centre | 65 | (-12, 0, 39) | 10 |
Obsidian | east end of the upper terrace | 80 | (93, 7, -4) | 15 |
Alabaster | south-west, in the low ground | 80 | around (-109, -8, -58) | 15 |

All five give 50 minutes, for 110 in total.

Route

- East. Head north-west from the start to the Amber Image (60, 0, -15). Ko'Dho Cannonball stands right beside it (60, 0, -18).
- South centre. Gu'Nhi Noondozer is at (31, -1, -84). Then kill the Crimson Image (7, -4, -53).
- Centre. Ze'Vho Fallsplitter spawns along the east-west street around (2, 0, -24). Gi'Pha Manameister is north-east of centre around (34, 3, 19). Then kill the Azure Image (-12, 0, 39). These four NMs drop the Steelwall Bijou.
- Upper terrace, east. Climb up and kill the Obsidian Image (93, 7, -4). Farm the level 90-92 camp around (75, 6, -31) for pop items. The ??? for Bu'Bho Truesteel is right there (74, 7, -35).
- West. Farm the level 90-92 camps west of centre. Kill the Alabaster Image around (-109, -8, -58). Call Zo'Pha Forgesoul (-131, 0, -68), Ra'Gho Darkfount (-188, -9, -22) and Va'Zhe Pummelsong (-104, 12, 75). Each pop NM drops a Fiendish Tome chapter every time.
- Boss. Go to the ??? at the far south of the city (-16, -2, -131). Trade the Steelwall Bijou for Gu'Dha Effigy. Killing it wins the area.
- Arch boss. Trade all five Fiendish Tome chapters at the same ??? for Arch Gu'Dha Effigy.

Refill statues

Nine Adamantking Effigies stand around the city. One from each group is up at a time, with a random eye colour. When one dies, everyone within 30 yalms gets full MP (blue eye) or full HP (green eye). Red does nothing. A new one appears 5 minutes later.

Group | Where | Level | Colours it can roll |
1 | south-west of centre: (-34, -1, -31), (-39, -1, -51), (-6, 0, -82) | 65 | red, blue, green |
2 | centre: (9, -1, 1) to (9, -1, -5) | 65 | red, blue, green |
3 | east of centre: (61, 0, -3), (59, -1, -12) | 65 | red, blue, green |
4 | west: (-132, -5, 9), (-130, -2, 0) | 80 | red, blue, green |
5 | far west: (-177, -8, -22), (-165, -4, -27) | 80 | red, blue, green |
6 | upper terrace, north: (-18, 7, 31) | 80 | red, blue |
7 | upper terrace, north: (-1, 7, 21) | 80 | red, green |
8 | upper terrace, centre: (16, 7, -1) | 80 | red, blue |
9 | upper terrace, east: (49, 6, -7) | 80 | red, green |

Pops

All the pop items are Rare and Ex: one of each per person. Spread them across the party. They can be sent to your own other characters.

Every pop item is also on the Clan Provisioner's pop shelf for 1,000 clan points (see Clan Centurio).

Steelwall Bijou

- Spawns: Gu'Dha Effigy. Trade it to the ??? at (-16, -2, -131).
- Drops from (about 1 kill in 4): Gi'Pha Manameister, Gu'Nhi Noondozer, Ko'Dho Cannonball and Ze'Vho Fallsplitter.
- Fastest: all four sit in the ground-floor centre, close to the first three time extensions. Kill each one on the way. Gi'Pha, Ko'Dho and Ze'Vho respawn every 15 minutes, Gu'Nhi every 20, so you can loop back in the same run.

The four odious items

Each one calls a level 95 NM at its own ???. All drop at 5% from the level 90-92 Vanguards in the west and on the upper terrace.

Item | Drops from (level 90-92 only) | ??? | Calls |
Odious Charm | Vanguard Defender, Kusa, Vindicator | south-west (-131, 0, -68) | Zo'Pha Forgesoul |
Odious Backscale | Vanguard Drakekeeper, Hatamoto, Militant, Vigilante | far west (-188, -9, -22) | Ra'Gho Darkfount |
Odious Engraving | Vanguard Beasttender, Constable, Purloiner, Undertaker | north-west, upper level (-104, 12, 75) | Va'Zhe Pummelsong |
Odious Letterbox | Vanguard Mason, Minstrel, Protector, Thaumaturge | east, upper terrace (74, 7, -35) | Bu'Bho Truesteel |

- Fastest: two camps hold a carrier for all four items in one pull area.
- West of centre, around (-94, 0, -1): Militant, Constable, Thaumaturge, Protector, Defender and Beasttender, with a Vindicator next door.
- East upper terrace, around (75, 6, -31): Vindicator, Militant, Vigilante, Protector, Constable and Minstrel. Bu'Bho's ??? is right beside it and the Obsidian Image is close by.
- Bring Treasure Hunter. A 5% drop is the slow part of the run.

Fiendish Tome chapters

The Arch Gu'Dha Effigy takes all five chapters in one trade.

Chapter | Drops (every kill) from |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 6 | Gu'Dha Effigy |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 7 | Zo'Pha Forgesoul |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 8 | Ra'Gho Darkfount |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 9 | Va'Zhe Pummelsong |
Fiendish Tome: Chapter 10 | Bu'Bho Truesteel |

- One player can't hold two of the same chapter, so one person collects a full set while the others pass.
- Fastest: pop the four NMs and Gu'Dha in the same run, then trade straight away. The chapters are also on the Clan Provisioner's shelf.

Strategy

Everything here except the statues is a quadav. The Vanguards and every quadav NM give procs once you hold 3 or more granules. The statues and the two bosses never proc.

Quadav NMs take 25% more piercing damage. Bring ranged attackers, dragoons and dagger users.

The Wrath of Gu'Dha. Every quadav NM in the area can use it. It hits everyone within 15 yalms and inflicts heavy Weight for a minute. Spread out and keep Erase ready.

Adamantking Images (time extensions)

- Statues with 1,000 HP. No spells.
- Take half damage from weapons. Magic does full damage.
- Immune to Silence, Slow, Elegy and Sleep.
- TP moves: Seismostomp (area damage and Stun, 15 yalms) and Lead Breath (breath in front, Weight for 5 minutes).
- A couple of nukers finish them fast. Stand to the side for Lead Breath.

Gi'Pha Manameister, Gu'Nhi Noondozer, Ko'Dho Cannonball, Ze'Vho Fallsplitter (Bijou NMs)

- 8,000 HP each, level 82-85.
- Gi'Pha is a black mage. Gu'Nhi is a summoner with a Carbuncle. Ko'Dho is a monk. Ze'Vho is a dark knight.
- Each uses its job's two-hour ability once below about half HP. A red proc (5 granules) takes it away.
- Kill Gu'Nhi's Carbuncle first. Back off Ko'Dho for Hundred Fists.

Zo'Pha Forgesoul

- Level 95 black mage / samurai. Casts black magic and uses Manafont at low HP.
- Fight i [cut off]
