Classic EXP Band (Castor's Ring)

Want the old-school grind? Wear the classic EXP band and monsters give experience the way they did in the early days of Vana'diel.

Getting it

- Every character receives a Castor's Ring once, at login. If your inventory is full, you are told to make room and it arrives at your next login.
- Lost it? Talk to the Login Moogle at the hangout (!hangout), pick Classic EXP band (free), then Take the classic EXP band.
- It's free and Rare/Ex: one per character.

What it does

- Wear it in either ring slot. You'll see "Classic EXP rate: on" when you put it on.
- While worn, experience and limit points from defeating monsters drop to the classic rate: half the standard rate. That's the pace of the early days, before monster experience and the per-monster caps (200/250/300, later 400/500/600) were doubled.
- Records of Eminence EXP rewards are also halved.
- EXP chains, Signet/party share, EXP rings, Corsair's roll and other bonuses still work, on top of the classic base.
- Quest, mission and book (Fields/Grounds of Valor page) EXP are not changed.
- The ring has no other stats, no charges and no timer.

Turning it off

Take the ring off ("Classic EXP rate: off") and you're back to the normal rate on the very next kill.

Classic mode

The band is not Classic mode. Classic mode is a separate, longer commitment with level limits and milestones (see Classic mode). If you wear the band while on Classic mode, the lower rate of the two applies.
