Balga's Dais battlefields
guide · Server guide
Balga's Dais connects to Giddeus and West Sarutabaruta. Enter at the Burning Circle: trade the orb or testimony, or examine it while holding the key item. Orbs crack after use. See also Battlefields.
Trusts: they are dismissed when you enter. You can call them again only in the fights marked "Trusts allowed" below, and each Trust takes one of the party slots. See Trusts.

Level-capped orb fights
Charming Trio
Entry: Cloudy Orb. Level cap 20. Players 3. Time 15 minutes.
Enemies: Prune, Pepper and Phoedme, three level 21 leeches.
- They can't be slept.
- Each casts Drain or Aspir about every 15 seconds.
- Prune uses Random Kiss, Pepper uses Absorbing Kiss, Phoedme uses Deep Kiss. All three drain you.
- They hear you from 15 yalms.
Strategy:
- A tank, a healer and a damage dealer.
- Kill them one by one. Their drains heal them, so steady damage beats slow chip damage.
- Keep MP users topped up; Aspir and Deep Kiss eat MP.
Rewards: 1,500 gil and Mannequin Hands every time; Mannequin Head at 5%. Full spoils: Charming Trio.
Creeping Doom
Entry: Sky Orb. Level cap 30. Players 3. Time 15 minutes.
Enemies: Bitoso, a level 33 white mage crawler.
- Casts Cure III and Paralyga.
- Can't be silenced. Heals itself often.
- Uses Sticky Thread (Slow), Poison Breath and Cocoon (defence up).
Strategy:
- Bring as much damage as you can. Its healing is the whole fight.
- Bring Paralyna or Remedies for Paralyga.
- Use your best weapon skills while Cocoon is down.
Rewards: 3,000 gil; a Spool of Silk Thread; job earrings such as
5 items: - Beater's Earring
- Esquire's Earring
- Healer's Earring
- Killer Earring
- Wizard's Earring
. Full spoils: Creeping Doom.
Harem Scarem
Entry: Sky Orb. Level cap 30. Players 6. Time 30 minutes.
Enemies: Nenaunir (level 33 dhalmel) and his five wives (level 27-28).
- Nenaunir never attacks in melee. He uses Whistle when the fight starts, then Healing Breeze over and over to heal the group.
- He casts Diaga, Stone II and Bind. He can't be slept or silenced.
- The wives go Berserk when they engage and use Stomping. They resist Lullaby but not Sleep.
Strategy:
- Kill Nenaunir first. He has no melee attack, so he is safe to burn, and every second he lives he heals the wives.
- A black mage or red mage sleeps the wives with Sleep or Sleepga while the rest kill Nenaunir.
- Then kill the wives one at a time.
Rewards: 4,000 gil; a mantle (Beater's Mantle, Esquire's Mantle or Healer's Mantle) at 75%; a shield (Wizard's Shield, Trimmer's Aspis or Wyvern Targe) at 75%; Mannequin Hands every time. Full spoils: Harem Scarem.
Royal Succession
Entry: Star Orb. Level cap 40. Players 3. Time 15 minutes.
Enemies: Opo-opo Monarch (40), Opo-opo Heir (38) and three Myrmidons, Spo-spo, Apu-apu and Epa-epa (34).
- The Monarch casts Hastega, Slowga, Stonega and Absorb-MND. Neither royal can be slept; the Myrmidons resist it.
- Every Myrmidon you kill gives the Monarch more attack.
- The Heir follows you around and doesn't attack while the Monarch lives.
- If the Heir dies first, the Monarch heals half its HP, gets full TP and fast TP gain, hits harder and takes no physical or ranged damage.
- If the Monarch dies first, the Heir heals half its HP, starts fighting with full TP and fast TP gain, hits harder and takes no magic damage.
Strategy:
- Best: bring both royals low and finish them together, with a weapon skill on one and a nuke on the other.
- Kill the Myrmidons only as fast as you need to; each one makes the Monarch stronger.
- If the Heir dies first, finish the Monarch with magic. If the Monarch dies first, finish the Heir with weapons.
Rewards: 5,000 gil; one of
5 items: - Kagehide
- Ohaguro
- Calveley's Dagger
- Sealed Mace
- Agile Gorget
; one of
5 items: - Himmel Stock
- Dusky Staff
- Jongleur's Dagger
- Shikar Bow
- Jagd Gorget
. Full spoils: Royal Succession.
Steamed Sprouts
Entry: Star Orb. Level cap 40. Players 6. Time 30 minutes.
Enemies: Dvorovoi (level 45) and seven Domovoi (40-41). All mandragoras, all linked.
- Dvorovoi casts Paralyga, Blindga or Flood about once a minute.
- Mandragora moves: Head Butt, Dream Flower (sleep), Wild Oats, Photosynthesis, Leaf Dagger, Scream.
- The Domovoi can be charmed.
Strategy:
- Everything comes at once. Sleepga and Lullaby buy time; a bard or black mage controls the pack.
- A beastmaster can charm a Domovoi and use it against the others.
- Kill the Domovoi first, then Dvorovoi.
- Cure Paralysis and Blindness quickly, and wake sleeping members after Dream Flower.
Rewards: 6,000 gil;
4 items: - Enhancing Earring
- Balance Buckler
- Survival Belt
- Guarding Gorget
, each at 50% in its own slot. Full spoils: Steamed Sprouts.
Rapid Raptors
Entry: Comet Orb. Level cap 50. Players 3. Time 15 minutes.
Enemies: two Dromiceiomimus, level 52-53 raptors.
- One runs the inner track and hits very hard. It uses Thunderbolt and Frost Breath.
- One runs the outer track and hits less hard. It uses Scythe Tail and Foul Breath.
- Every 25 to 40 seconds each raptor stops fighting and sprints laps around the arena. When it gets back to its target it fires its TP move at once.
Strategy:
- Kill the inner raptor first. It is the bigger threat.
- When a raptor breaks away, don't chase it. Ready a cure and wait for the TP move on its return.
- Use the running time to cure, buff and rest TP for the next exchange.
Rewards: 15,000 gil; three Raptor Skins; two accessories such as
4 items: - Mana Circlet
- Rival Ribbon
- Super Ribbon
- Rush Gloves
. Full spoils: Rapid Raptors.
Treasure and Tribulations
Entry: Comet Orb. Level cap 50. Players 6. Time 30 minutes.
Enemies: a Small Box, a Medium Box and a Large Box. Pick one.
- When you attack a box, the other two vanish.
- One time in three, the box was the treasure: it disappears and the Armoury Crate is ready.
- Otherwise it opens as a level 55 mimic. It hits hard, can't be slept and pulls you back to it if you move away.
- Its Death Trap stuns or poisons and wipes its hate list.
Strategy:
- Open with the whole party ready to fight. Box size doesn't change the odds.
- If it is a mimic, the tank uses Provoke again after every Death Trap, since the mimic's hate resets.
- Bring poison removal and keep the healer back from the melee.
Rewards: 1,734 gil; a job ring or a Platinum Ring; an Astral Ring at 35%. Full spoils: Treasure and Tribulations.
Wild Wild Whiskers
Entry: Moon Orb. Level cap 60. Players 3. Time 15 minutes.
Enemies: Macan Gadangan, a level 62 coeurl.
- He casts thunder spells on a timer. You see "whiskers twitch" three seconds before each cast.
- He can't be slept. He hits hard, double-attacks and never runs out of MP.
- TP moves: Charged Whisker, Chaotic Eye, Pounce. From his fourth stage he adds Petrifactive Breath.
- Interrupting his spells makes him worse. Each interrupt moves him to a stronger stage: more spell damage, shorter gaps between casts, and Frenzied Rage (attack up) straight away. There are four stages.
- Silencing him is worse still. He goes straight to his last stage: he becomes [cut off]
