Bazaar traders on the Auction House

guide ยท Server guide

The adventurers running bazaars in the Rolanberry Fields hangout also trade on the Auction House. Each one has a specialty, and every so often they put up a few stacks of it under their own name, so you'll see their names in the AH sale history.

Trader | Sells on the AH |
Pipipopo | Cooking ingredients |
Ozzelle | Meals and drinks |
Mimiko | Ammunition (arrows, bolts, bullets, throwing) |
Callisa | Fishing gear, bait and fish |
Bramwick | Ninja tools |
Kazzmar | Crystals, plus scrolls and rarer finds |
Gorrmund | Smithing and goldsmithing materials |
Tavrin | Leathercraft and bonecraft materials |
Dorrin | Woodworking materials |
Siraelle | Clothcraft materials |
Lunarelle | Medicines and alchemy materials |
Valdrenne | Top-end gear (level 75 and up) and anything worth 500,000 gil or more, restocked one at a time every 1 to 3 days |

- They post every half hour to hour and a half, a few different items at a time, in stacks when the item stacks.
- Their prices are at or a little above the regular AH stock, so they mostly fill the gaps when the regular stock sells out.
- Anything they don't sell comes down after a day or two, and something new goes up.
- The always-stocked items (quest trade-ins and key crafting ingredients) and the once-a-week items (Warp II and other travel scrolls, battlefield-only items) are also listed by the trader whose specialty they fit. Scrolls and anything without a specialty go through Kazzmar.

Rhunek, the AH's buyer

Rhunek (who also runs the Bank of Vana'diel) buys what players list on the AH, and his name shows on the sale. He measures your price against the item's recent AH sale history (the middle of its last 10 sales; never more than the AH's own stock sells it for, and the AH's list price when there's no history yet):

- 80% or less: he buys it right away, paying 80%.
- Up to 90%: he buys it at your asking price once it has been up for a day.
- Up to the full price: he buys it at your asking price shortly before it would expire and be mailed back to you.

He always pays more than any NPC vendor or guild would give you for the item, so the AH is always the better place to sell. Anything priced higher than the steps above comes back by mail as usual. He pays out of the bank, and pays any one seller at most 1,000,000 gil a day.

How AH prices move

The regular AH stock follows supply and demand. Once an item has a few player sales, the middle of its recent sales sets the price. Items that keep selling out creep up a little each day. Items nobody has bought for 3 days get cheaper every day until someone buys them, so an overpriced item doesn't sit on the shelf forever. It never drops below what an NPC would pay you for it. Rare gear (level 75 and up, or 500,000 gil and up) is never marked down, and anything crafted always sells for more than its ingredients cost, with a 10% margin on top.

When the economy is slow (lots of spark shields being sold to NPCs, or not much trading on the AH), crafting gets a boost: the ingredients for the usual skill-up synths get cheaper on the AH, and Rhunek pays more for what you make with them.
