Adoulin-area notorious monsters

guide ยท Server guide

Where to find a set of Seekers of Adoulin and Escha notorious monsters, how to make each one appear, and what to expect in the fight.

Trade pops in the Gates and Cirdas Caverns

Each of these three waits behind a ???. Trade its item to the ??? and it appears beside you. The common monsters near each ??? drop the trade item.

NM | Zone | ??? location | Trade | Item comes from |
Vemosia | Cirdas Caverns, map 2, G-9 | !pos -501 29 -579 | Slashed Vine | the rafflesia nearby |
Dreadpincer | Dho Gates, map 2, J-9 | !pos 486 1 -447 | Wrecked Pincer | Surly Craklaw |
Stinkskin | Moh Gates, map 2, G-10 | !pos -335 50 256 | Cracked Matamata Shell | Groundstomp Matamata |

- Vemosia poisons with its melee hits. Blighted Bouquet is a gaze, so turn away when it readies it to avoid Bio and Silence. Below half HP it starts using Soothing Aroma, which charms.
- Drops:4 items: - Wisent Kecks
- Chanter's Shield
- Star Sapphire
- Larimar

- Dreadpincer shifts its guard between the physical damage types (slashing, piercing, blunt, hand-to-hand). When your hits suddenly do almost nothing, switch to another weapon type until the guard moves again, about once a minute.
- Drops: Herkuleskeule, Hibernation Earring, Dragon Heart.
- Stinkskin regenerates heavily and shrugs off damage until you hit its weakness. A weapon skill from a club, staff or hand-to-hand weapon makes the blue !! appear.
- For the next 30 seconds its Regen stops and it takes extra damage. That is your window to skillchain.
- Drops: Blackshell Hairpin, Atalanta, Star Sapphire.

Escha - Zi'Tah: Geas Fete

These are popped like every other Geas Fete NM. Buy the grisly trinket from Affi, carry Tribulens or Radialens, and examine the NM's ??? at its camp.

Urmahlullu (Tier 3)

- Trade to Affi: Pluton x5.
- Guard: Nukes other than Earth barely scratch it while its guard is up. Each time it uses Flame Armor or Howl it lowers the guard for about 30 seconds, and it is also open while busy with a move or spell. Time your burst for those windows.
- Howl: Howl is followed at once by more moves, Wild Horn or Ecliptic Meteor.
- Ecliptic Meteor: Blind, Bio and Paralysis on everyone in front. Standing behind Urmahlullu avoids it.
- Below half HP: It adds Amnesic Blast, a conal Amnesia.
- Spells: Burst II, Thunder VI, Thundaga V, Shock.
- Drops:
- Eschalixirs (+1 and +2 rarely).
- Vulcanite Ore.
- Chastisers, Skormoth Mask and Onca Suit.
- Eschan Stones.

Alpluachra, Bucca and Puca (HELM)

- Trade to Affi: Ashweed and a Gravewood Log.
- Pop: All three appear together and count as one kill once the last of them falls.
- Phases:
- At first they fight with Zephyr and Lethe Arrows.
- Once the weakest of the three drops below half HP, they switch to Cyclonic Turmoil.
- Below a quarter HP they fire Norn Arrows every minute or so. Norn Arrows knocks back.
- Blue weakness: Land one area spell, or one area move from your pet, on all three at once. All three are struck with Terror for 10 seconds. Pull them together before you cast.
- Spells:
- Alpluachra:5 items: - Aeroga III
- Slowga
- Silencega
- Addle
- Paralyze II

- Bucca:5 items: - Dread Spikes
- Aspir II
- Drain
- Waterga III
- Firaga III

- Puca:4 items: - Firaga III
- Hastega
- Protectra V
- Shellra V

- Drops: Eschalixirs, Hermetic Earring, Annointed Kalasiris.

Escha - Ru'Aun: Naga Raja's Domain Invasion

- Vanguard first: When the Domain Invasion begins, Naga Raja does not appear straight away. Eleven of Naga Raja's Lamia, black mages and rangers, gather on the central platform south of the entrance.
- Elvorseal: Step into the blue barrier to receive it.
- The wyrm: Once every Lamia is down, Naga Raja descends.
- Rewards: Defeating it pays out Domain points and beads as before.

Reisenjima: Ogdoad

- Where: Mosquito Pond, south of Ethereal Ingress #2 (G-9), where the Lentic Toads gather.
- When: Only between 23:00 and 4:00 Vana'diel time, while the Dark Orb sits on the water.
- How: Fish in the pond with any rod and bait. Ogdoad bites with far more stamina than the pond's toads, and it can be fished up again right after it dies.
- Watch out: Mosquitoes roaming the pond aggro on sight, and Wretched Poroggos and Lentic Toads link, so Sneak while fishing.
- Fight:
- A black mage poroggo with area nukes.
- Frog Song, which charms.
- Providence, after which it casts more powerful spells.
- Resistances: Water and light magic are almost useless; ice is poor. Thunder works best.

Ra'Kaznar Turris: Hades (Seekers of Adoulin 5-4 and 5-4-1)

Both fights are entered at the Ominous Postern in Ra'Kaznar Turris (!pos 118 37.5 20 277).

- Reckoning (5-4): Bring the Crystallized Psyche, which you receive on entering Ra'Kaznar Inner Court during the mission. Hades fights in his first form, and Arciela fights beside you.
- Abomination (5-4-1): Bring the Awakened Crystallized Psyche. Hades fights in his second form, and his HP bar is hidden.
- Arciela and Teodor fight beside you, and the battle is lost if either falls.
- Keep Hades busy so he does not turn on them.
- Rules for both: Six players and 30 minutes. Trusts are allowed, and your key item is kept if you lose, so you can try again.

Vagary (Outer Ra'Kaznar [U])

The third-wave notorious monsters of the routes have their own moves now:

- Palloritus (Deathborne): Cruel Joke (Doom), Feast of Arrows (Bind), Last Laugh, Regurgitated Swarm and Setting the Stage.
- Spells: Absorb-Attri, Absorb-Acc and Kaustra.
- Below half HP it uses Manafont again and again.
- It is weak to fire and resists dark almost entirely.
- Rancibus (Brash): Cesspool, Fetid Eddies, Nullifying Rain and Noyade.
- Spells: water and ice magic, Bindga and Silencega.
- Manafont at 75%, 50% and 25%.
- Stun works. Avoid water, ice and dark magic.
- Insidivo (Duskbrood): Eldritch Wind, a 20' blast that strips buffs and inflicts Addle and Plague.
- Spells: Aeroga III and Holy II, with a Chainspell below half HP.
- Magic does reduced damage to it.

Quest fights

These appear during their quests. Start the quest to see them.

- Staumarth (Moh Gates, Forging New Bonds).
- Melee does almost nothing until Tomahawk lands. Bring a Warrior, or a Klara trust, and fight while Tomahawk lasts.
- It resists every element but thunder.
- Its melee carries Ice Spikes and an ice enspell.
- Spectral Floe inflicts Terror, and Scouring Spate knocks off a piece of your gear.
- Deranged Ameretat (Morimar Basalt Fields, For Whom the Bell Tolls; examine the Ergon Locus at J-6 with a Silver Luopan).
- Above half HP it uses Bad Breath.
- Below half HP it uses Extremely Bad Breath instead, a slow wind-up instant KO at very close range. Step back as soon as you see it readied.
- It is immune to Stun and enfeebles and evades most magic, so fight it physically.

Field hazards

- Numbing Blossom (Ceizak Battlegrounds, Foret de Hennetiel, Yahse Hunting Grounds, Yorcia Weald).
- Every half minute or so it releases spores that paralyze anyone within a few steps.
- Give the flowers a wide berth when pulling nearby.
